Services

Beinhorn Creative Consulting Services

Up until about fifteen years ago, if you were having a record produced, you could look forward to:

  • having your songs and arrangements heavily scrutinized,
  • spending weeks- even months in pre-production, and then,
  • rehearsing all your music until it was ready to be recorded.

Keep in mind, all of this would take place well before anyone considered recording a note of music.

That brings us to the present- a time when budgets have shrunk to almost nothing and anything other than physical recording is considered time consuming and unnecessary.

However, it’s pretty obvious that, without processes like pre-production, the overall quality of recent recordings has become consistently worse. My mission is making these functions available as individual services, to be used by artists however they want.

The key is making these services accessible and affordable. The best way to achieve that goal is by working remotely and communicating with artists via email, Skype, etc. This also guarantees that artists can access this service from any place in the world.

Pre-production

Think of pre-production like the foundation for a house. Without a sturdy foundation, a house won’t last long. Pre-Production ensures that songs and arrangements have structural integrity. This process includes:

  • Song analysis
  • Song repair
  • Project analysis

Song Analysis

Performer/songwriters are often unable to be objective about their own material because they’re too close to it. This is why outside guidance and perspective is so helpful to these artists. Song Analysis includes:

  • Song assessment
  • Song repair

Project Overview

The Project Overview is about evaluating a recording project both as a group of individual songs and as an integrated body of work. It includes:

  • Song assessment
  • Assembling of songs for recording project (or demo)
  • Assessing and itemizing steps to make project ready for recording

Live Rehearsal

Working one-on-one in a rehearsal space is one the best ways to improve songs. This includes:

  • one on one work with artists
  • pre-production

Post-production/Pre-mix

Sometimes, a recording is almost finished but still feels as if things are missing. Post-Production analysis is available to help take recordings to completion. This process includes:

  • one on one work with artists
  • Song analysis
  • Song repair

Executive Production

Recording projects often need additional oversight, even if a producer is already on board. Executive production includes:

  • One-on-one work with artists
  • Song analysis
  • Song repair
  • Project analysis
  • Pre-production

Remote Record Production

Recording projects often need additional oversight, even if a producer is already on board. Executive production includes:

  • One-on-one work with artists
  • Song analysis
  • Song repair
  • Project analysis
  • Pre-production
  • remote recording to project participation and completion

Artist Incubation

About 30 years ago, artist development used to be one of the most important aspects of record-making. Until about fifteen years ago, every major record company had an artist development department which worked closely with their artists and assisted in their creative growth. Artist Incubation is an evolution of this concept, redesigned to address the needs of each individual artist. It includes:

  • One-on-one work with artists
  • Song analysis
  • Song repair
  • Project analysis
  • Pre-production
  • Record production
